I wanted to see if I was getting a fair deal through using my kitchen group fabricator so a couple weeks ago I got a quote for same exact quartz from another fabricator and it was $2,500 more. I tried not sound shocked and said ok thanks and he said people think I'm high but that's what I charge. In my expensive area, our local box store (HD) was much cheaper than the stone shops, and includes installation. The HD quartz selection was much smaller though. Ikea also sells quartz. You will want to research whether your local box stores use reputable installers.

misschocolatecake -- there are a number of ways to buy quartz. I bought the slab myself from a stone retailer. But I had a contractor (who had a fabricator) -- I gave the retailer the name and got the contractor discount, even though I paid them directly.
