Tried this with Athletic Bilbao. I'm at the start of my 5th season in charge so I have a decent squad at my disposal. I would say there are three teams with better squads than me in the league and another three or four which are on the same level, but the board is still demanding I challenge for the title, so I need an advantage over the other teams. I won the league for the first time last season with a 442-tactic, but it was mostly down to the other top teams not performing to their potential.
So far this seems like a very good tactic, at least for my team. Upfront I lack a targetman that consistently wins headers and I don't have any strikers with enough pace to get on the end of through balls, but they are all good finishers and when given space and time they will usually convert. The problem until now have been to create chances for them as they don't posses the physique to consistently create something on their own.
In defence I lack a centerback that is dominant in the air, which means I don't score on as many corners as others do, so take that into consideration when looking at the results. In other words I have mostly players that have good all round abilities but doesn't posses extreme physical qualities and I guess the team performance suffers a bit because of it. My central midfield is really good though, with players like Raul Garcia, Javi Martinez, Mikel Arteta and Markel Susaeta. This tactic looks like it can bring the best out of them.
Basically what happened was that their CBs decided to mark my right and left AMC, their MCs marked my central AMC and they completely ignored my striker. He scored 4 goals, but had 13 shots in total and could have scored a lot more. Their CBs was more or less playing as DMCs with a tendency to move out towards the sideline when my team had the ball. It reminded me a little bit of the looney effect in the diablo tactic.
Very good little tactic for Spurs so far. I am unbeaten in 10 games, but 5 of them have been draws. I have a very young squad, so im sure ill start winning more. Definately a good tactic, the best ive used with the latest patch. I'll update you when my season has finished.
This is a great tactic. Agree the goals come from most areas. Am tottenham and have won 6 out of 7 games with this tactic. What makes it more unusual is that when i took over them they where going bust so had to sell off most of the assets and only really could get in frees with all the good ones already gone. So basically that is with less than average players.
If someone has for exemple Ame tactic 4-4-2 , or first version of goals Galoe ( user Skoolblowsme ) or other \"normal\" very good and effective tactic please share us:)) most of old links with this tactics died:(....
Generally, it should not be hard to find a winning formula with the potential side you have at your finger tips. But if you are struggling I have compiled a few different tactics which have worked well for me in the past, so give them a go.
This tactic is my personal favourite formation on this version on FM and has the potential with this team to rip opponents apart. It focuses on fast movements with attacking coming from all angles, the man up front should be played as a target man in order for the three running in to feed off of, and the other three should all be accomplished finishers. You also have balance with a DM covering back as the others go forward, and then the CM like Fabregas should be used as a playmaker.
This tactic is based on quick movement and versatile, but creative players. It is quite an attacking 4-4-2 but mentality is set to normal to balance it out, width is also well balanced but wingers should be used to good effect, in this case Hleb and Rosicky. It will also work well if you tick counter attack, which makes it good for playing away against tough opponents.
Some tactics may never work if you do not have the correct player instructions to couple it. I will give you a few of the more important players for each tactic and what you will need to set them at in order to the best.
Full backs are key in this tactic as there is little or no width in some cases. They will need to stay far enough back to keep a tight defence, hence the deep defending, but get forward often to support the midfield, hence high forward runs.
After spending one entire season learning the game and develloping a 4-4-2 based tactic i finallly realized that was better to play 4-3-1-2, so midway through i changed from a 4-4-2 to a 4-3-1-2...it took some games to learn how it could perform better but i reached a good strong layout. After a first season of learning i achieve 2 spanish leagues and 2 champions league in a row in season 2 and 3. Add 2 spanish cups and 2 super cups and 2 more european supercups and 2 more world club chanpions. =2GEE4G55details tacticsFormation4 flat line defence3 center midfilders with tho one in the middle with a back arrow1 attacking midfielder with a up arrow through the middle of the 2 strikers2 strikersTeam instructions :mentality - ofensive 13creative freedom - normalpassing style - mixed 6Tempo - normal 6width - normalpressure- normaltime wasting - normaldefence line - normaltackling - normal(all normal without values are exactly in the middle 10)focus passing - mixedmarkink - zonetarget man - behind defencechecks on play with target man and counter attackingcorners - 6 yards boxMore details:Team : At. Hey, my dear readers! Today I want to share with you my Football Manager 2008 tactics... It's really my best one! This is the tactics that brought my Southampton to the 2nd position of English Premiership overtaking Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea!
It's home attacking variant with maximal Closing Down, Short Passing and Tight Marking. Actually, these three components are used in the away tactical instructions as well. Tempo is quite low here that allows to loose the ball rarely and have a good ball control. Average value of Defensive Line increases the intention of attacking force in this case. It give effect of closing an opponent on its side of a pitch. Time Wasting has the lowest value because I don't like to waste the time :). Normally I change it if there is need to hold up ball in the end of a game.
They are the players that not just for defending. They can always support attack through the flanks (it's a large advantage of this FM tactics! ). Therefore they have all 5 first settings inherited attacking team instructions here. Plus Forwards Runs=Often and Crossing Ball=Often.
Central half-backs are probably the most important part of my Football Manager 2008 tactics. They really rule the game making performance. What's interesting - MLC is more offensive than MRC having Run With Ball=Often and Long Shots=Often. You understand that for MLC position in this tactics you need a guy with good technique, dribbling, pace, long shots and creativity.
The main attacking flank force are my wingers. Classically, they should be fast, brilliantly technical, with good passing, crossing, creativity (Creative Freedom=15). But there is another requirement in this tactics for Football Manager 2008: good Finishing and Composure are really necessary to allow to score goals more often . Actually, wingers act as 2 forwards in my tactical scheme moving from the flank closer to the centre of opponent's area (look at their arrows on the formation screen shot in the beginning of the post!).
My tactics demands having the only striker ahead. He can be of two types (it was found out on the real experience): 1) quick striker with good composure (Jelle Vossen); 2) average speed forward with preferred move Shoots Ball With Power (Marius Niculae).
These 5 features make Away tactics very distinct from its Home prototype. Away tactics can be used for Home matches against very strong teams but I haven't been do it in such way during the last championship. Just because Home variant allows to score more goals and provide offensive style of playing.
I have created my own version of the Manchester United 2008 tactic. The squad was world class and the season was successful, winning the double of the Premier League title and the Champions League. The tactic was at the forefront of our success and confused the opposition, creating many goals and chances aswell as being strong in defence.
I could go on about the concepts in this for ages but I have actually stopped playing FM now as the tactical tweaking required for success is too tiresome to make the game fun. But I hope you can get your head around the concept.
Well i give FM 2008 a perfect 10 when it got out, and i did a break about half year of it. I tried 2009 but it was so slow i went back to 2008, but this game is getting on my nerves now... it now seems everything my team does results in defeat. 153554b96e
