Efficiency equals Savings
The costs of heating a home can be lowered without losing the comfort of warmth with a smart thermostat like the Nest Learning Thermostat, 3rd Generation, which works with Amazon’s Alexa. The thermostat learns when you want your home heated and at what temperature to ensure that you only use heat when needed to save money.
The Nest Initiative links up to other Nest compatible IoT smart devices to help it learn when you are home, when you leave, and who is in the house to customize the temperature to their specific preference.

What Nest Thermostat Users Say
Patrick Fillion says in his Amazon Review, “Step by Step installation. Remove the old thermostat, use the provided label stickers for wires. Plus the wires in the well-labelled connector. The thermostat will tell you what was detected. Run you through a test to make sure everything is connected properly. Easy to create a schedule or teach it by only changing the temperature when you want it. Really easy to get the government rebate as the request is built-in the installation process… You will also get the inside humidity level and the outside temperature. As well as getting a report when the heater was on and for how long.”
Marty999 says in his Amazon Review: “I will focus on its limitations. Out of the box the battery was dead. Took some time to get things to work again. On top of this, the unit was not receiving any power due to the wiring and it died again in the middle of the night. I woke up to a house at 14C. This problem was solved after an hour or two on the phone with Customer care…
As for the functionality, well, it does not work with home kit, meaning it does not work and will likely not work with Siri. Nest = Google & Siri = Apple… not friends. Something I only realized after purchasing the product. Its silly and just means that if you have an iPhone, you will not have a seamless IoT house working perfectly… It should eventually work with my NVIDIA shield…
Programming is great, the features are great, installation was pretty simple, quality is perfect, overall a great product. Just consider the points state above.”
J isn’t happy with Nest’s customer service and an incompatibility issue she’s having with her Nest Learning Thermostat, “Well I'm at month 2 without being able to run my A/C thanks to nest, on the upside it's getting cooler outside. I can't count the hours I've wasted trying to get the thing running and talking to customer support. I checked compatibility beforehand from Nest and everything was supposed to work, and then I wired everything right, even had confirmation of that multiple times by the customer support. My issue is that when cooling the unit also activates the emergency heating, which becomes really apparent when the heat pump turns off and only the emergency heating is running and heat will be blasting out until I reset the nest or I turn off the breakers. Customer support pretended this wasn't a known issue (a google search says otherwise) and had me jumping through hoops until my window to return it to amazon closed and now I'm getting no responses from them (Yes I have a C wire; no the O and B settings are not reversed). They last told me it was an issue with my heat pump (even though my old thermostat worked fine) and to get a nest pro in to check everything out. The problem is the "nest pros" they list in my area don't want to touch a nest job with a ten foot pole, none of them have either responded or wanted to do the job, same goes for all other A/C repair people. Some of the pros don't even list Nest as thermostats they work, some only do electronics and not A/C and one is literally just a "." with a 555 number. So I can't get it working and literally no one will even try and fix it. At this point I have a 300$ paper weight, no A/C and no one willing to even come and try and fix it. Edit: I disconnected the aux heating wire to the unit so now it can't run aux heating nonstop....not a long term fix considering winter is coming. Still can't get any hvac person to look at it apparently, they hate the nest”

In her Amazon Review, Jill Lassaline is happy with her Nest Learning Thermostat,
“Easy to install, remove old thermostat, note the wires on the old one, put in new one. Our installation went a little off the rails because our old thermostat was installed incorrectly. A quick call to the help line and they had me hooked up in minutes, even emailed me a wiring diagram to keep for any future need. App set up is equally easy, and it's paired nicely with our Nest Smoke Alarms. Auto away works like a charm, can't think of anything but good to say about this!”
